Claire wakes up in the middle of the night from a hot flush in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 107

Claire wakes up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 107. She’s not suffering from an illness. She’s having a hot flash.

I love that Claire keeps her thoughts calm. She knows exactly what is going on. That doesn’t necessarily mean that she likes it, but she knows from her education that she’s going through the early stages of menopause.

There are focuses of her hot flash, but she also focuses on the voices outside. She can hear a crying baby and Roger’s attempt at singing. Then Jamie comes to find her because he can’t sleep without her.

The very end of the chapter is focused on Lawrence Stern, who has learned something interesting about new birds. It would be interesting for those who like to learn more about the world and nature, anyway. Jamie knows that Claire is one of those people, so would be interested in knowing more.

I think the foreshadowing in this chapter is mostly focused on Claire aging. We know what that means, especially when it comes to her hair color.

As for using this chapter in the series, we did get a little bit of it. That part that was used was the most important part for fans of Claire and Jamie’s story.

Let’s dive into The Fiery Cross Chapter 107.
