Outlander Book Club: The Fiery Cross Chapter 104 breakdown
Claire and Jamie head to River Run in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 104
When Claire and Jamie get to River Run in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 104, Phaedre is certainly relieved. Why could that be? Well, we’re all about to find out.
This is all connected to everything that happened with Bonnet and Lillywhite. It turns out that Lieutenant Wolff went back to River Run in an attempt to kill Duncan Innes and force Jocasta into marriage. Fortunately, Duncan was able to fight back and Wolff ended up killed by Ulysses.
This is where the problem lies. It’s no wonder Phaedre is so scared. She’s worried about Ulysses and what happens now that Wolff is dead.
That’s not all that comes up, either. There’s a certain doctor dead at River Run too!
The chapter was partly used for the series. You see, Ulysses did end up killing a man to protect Jocasta. He did have to go on the run. The man in question and the reasons behind it were all slightly different, and the way Ulysses got away was also different. I didn’t mind the show’s changes, and I’ll get to that in the adaptation section.
The storyline with Dr. Rawlings wasn’t used in the series. That’s because the Frenchman’s gold hasn’t been used either. I’ll get to my thoughts on why I didn’t mind that being skipped.
Was there foreshadowing, though? There is a little.
Let’s dive into The Fiery Cross Chapter 104.
