Claire, Brianna, and Marsali have a run-in with a certain pirate in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 103

When Jamie and Roger found out Stephen Bonnet was in Wilmington, it was clear Claire and Brianna weren’t safe. We see more than just Bonnet attacking in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 103.

Claire, Brianna, and Marsali take the children to the woods to pick berries. It’s all about grabbing something to make scented candles and a picnic. At least, that’s what the women think they’re going to do. It all changes when Bonnet turns up.

It’s certainly an intense moment. One thing that I love is seeing the women handle the whole situation. They shoot when needed, and they stick together even if it looks like Brianna and Jemmy should just go with Bonnet to keep everyone safe. The women use their wits and brains, and I love getting to see them like this, especially Marsali who has only ever known the 18th century way of life.

The chapter was partly used in the series. Outlander Season 5 did combine this moment with a later moment, which meant we didn’t quite get to see Brianna and Marsali working together to save Claire from Bonnet’s grasp. However, I don’t mind missing out on that for the sake of the way the series handled the Bonnet storyline.

There is some foreshadowing in this chapter. It’s clear that Bonnet isn’t finished with this.

Let’s dive into The Fiery Cross Chapter 103.
