Outlander got a mention in another TV show. The CW’s 4400 reboot used it as an example of time travel and how it could work. Of course, Jamie got a mention, too!

It’s common for TV shows to mention others. Outlander has had a mention in numerous shows, including This Is Us and The Boys. It turns out a lot of people love it—but we knew that, right?

The CW’s 4400 is the latest show to mention our favorite. It’s mentioned as a “new” show, even though the first season arrived in 2014. It’s worth noting that the character who mentions it, LaDonna, has been snapped up from 2015 and dropped in 2021. To her, it will be a new show.

Linking to the topic of time travel on 4400

During the new 4400 series, the characters are trying to figure out what’s happened to them. They also want to get back to their own time. In this series, people have been picked up from the last century and dropped in 2021. They are people presumed missing or dead from the last century because of how they just suddenly disappeared.

LaDonna was an influencer in 2015. She’s also up on pop culture, and when there’s a mention of getting back to where everyone initially found themselves in 2021, she quickly thinks of Outlander.

The theory is that if they all get back to where they were dropped in 2021, they’ll be able to find a portal to get them back to their own time periods. “Just like this new show, Outlander,” LaDonna says and quickly explains that it’s about a woman who falls through time and wants to get back to her own time period.

This woman (who we know is Claire) meets a “hottie in a kilt.” Oh yes, we know exactly who she means with that. The conversation moves back to the current situation, but it’s always fun to find out which shows have writers who are Outlander fans.

Does the theory work? I’ll leave you to watch the series to find out.
