Jamie, Claire, and others travel to Wilmington searching for word about Stephen Bonnet in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 100

It’s March in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 100, and that means it’s time for the Frasers and MacKenzies to do some traveling. They want to find Stephen Bonnet.

The chapter is mostly a filler chapter, focusing on the search for Bonnet. It’s clear that the family isn’t going to find Bonnet any time soon. Instead, they’ll run into other people along the way.

There are a few discussions about strange taxes in the Colonies. These strange taxes weren’t only in the Colonies, though. I remember discussions about them in Scotland when I lived there. And eventually, Roger runs into someone he sailed on the Gloriana with, which does offer a little hope that they’ll run into Bonnet at some point.

The chapter wasn’t used in the series. Instead, the show pulled forward the Bonnet storyline from A Breath of Snow and Ashes, and I’ll get to my thoughts about that. I actually didn’t mind the way the TV show handled all this. In fact, I preferred it.

As for foreshadowing, I don’t really see a lot. It’s really just a focus on moving the plot forward about Bonnet.

Let’s dive into The Fiery Cross Chapter 100.
