Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter

The foreshadowing is all about the gold. We know now that it’ll be linked to the Frenchman’s gold. What I can’t remember is whether the identity of the man is confirmed at some point. I feel like it is, and that it’s a certain Bug who is at Fraser’s Ridge, but I can’t be certain anymore. It’s been a while since I’ve read the sixth book, and I know that’s where the Bugs’ story comes up.

All I know is that this is foreshadowing this. Claire thinks that the gold is being used medicinally, but it’s clear that Jamie thinks something else is going on. That’s why he wants to read through the other Latin passages.

Adapting The Fiery Cross chapter

The chapter wasn’t used in Outlander Season 5, and I don’t think it will be used in Season 6 either. I just don’t see the need for it.

I know the Frenchman’s gold is a huge story in the books. The Bugs have a huge role coming up. However, there are ways around not involving the Bugs and the Frenchman’s gold for the storylines that they lead to. The storylines themselves aren’t crucial to plot points later on, and the show needs to find a way to condense storylines.

This is the way to do it. It’s possible to cut out the slightly smaller storylines without affecting too much. It is an issue with adaptations. There just isn’t the time to develop storylines or to even include some storylines on screen like there is in books.

I’m okay with that because I get that they are two vastly different formats. For me, it doesn’t make one better than the other. Comparing book to show is like comparing apples to oranges. It’s impossible and unfair to do. So, I appreciate them both for what they are, and can understand changes that are necessary in the TV series.

So, I don’t expect the Bugs to get the story in the show that they do in the books. I’m okay with that happening, as long as the more important storylines are covered.
