Outlander Book Club: The Fiery Cross Chapter 95 breakdown
Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter
There is a little foreshadowing in this chapter. It’s all about how Tom will become trouble.
We hear the story about how Tom and Jamie didn’t really like each other. There was a way to control it in the prison, but Tom doesn’t like Jamie being the one in charge. It’s going to be hard for Tom to accept Jamie as the owner of the whole land and becoming one of Jamie’s tenants.
When Claire notes that the marks on Jamie’s wrists from the bonds have been gone a long time, Jamie notes that Tom has been gone a long time too. It’s clear that Jamie doesn’t trust Tom, and there’s a reason for that.
Adapting The Fiery Cross chapter
I don’t think we’ll see the full story told about Christie in Outlander Season 6. One thing the show has skipped over so far is that Jamie became a freemason while in Ardsmuir. Is there a need to bring it up now? Possibly not.
The main focus is going to be on who Tom is and how he’s connected to Jamie. It’s going to be about the trouble between them. That’s going to be important as there is trouble to come with the Christies on the Ridge.
We haven’t got to know Kenny Lindsay all that well in the series just yet. His involvement in the story could be skipped. With the costs of adding actors to the show and just a small role, there’s a way to include the story in a different way. The show could have Tom tell the story or even just keep it to Jamie telling the story. I’d rather have the money spent on other parts of the show than a character for just one story that can be told by someone else.
