Roger learns a little bit more about Tom Christie’s past in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 95

After giving Tom Christie and his family some land, Roger takes the time to find out who this man really is. We get to know a little more about Jamie’s past and how he knows Tom in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 95.

It’s a chapter that is packed with information. This isn’t just about learning how Tom is, but about learning Jamie’s connection to him. It’s also about learning how Jamie and Tom both ended up becoming freemasons while they were in Ardsmuir Prison.

For Roger, this is important. He wants to know his father-in-law a little more. Roger also wants to know who the tenants are that he’s welcomed onto the Ridge.

We haven’t had a chance to see this play out in the series yet. We probably won’t see it play out exactly like this, but there is a chance we’ll get to learn more about Tom Christie very soon on the series. I’ll get to my thoughts about how Tom’s backstory will be told in the adaptation section.

There is a bit of foreshadowing in this chapter. It’s important to get ready for the trouble that Tom will bring.
