Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter

I think the foreshadowing for me in this chapter is in Brianna’s actions. She’s taking charge and she’s making Claire proud. There is another proud mama moment to come, and this chapter sort of foreshadows that.

Brianna is extremely focused on finding useful items to help Jamie. She just doesn’t always know what Claire needs. There’s a moment coming up when Claire explains exactly what she needs to save Jamie’s life and leg.

Adapting The Fiery Cross chapter

The chapter was only partly used in the series. Claire knows that she needs maggots, and so we see everyone head out to find them.

Something Outlander Season 5 didn’t focus on was finding the right type of maggots. While that would have been important for the situation, there just wasn’t the time to really focus on that. Plus, can we just assume that Claire would tell everyone what to look for and would check on that herself? It’s easy to assume that stuff like that takes place off-screen. It’s not like this is some sort of documentary or teaching tool, after all!

I love the way the show focused on saving Jamie. We got all the important moments, although it is a shame we didn’t quite get the discussion about how maggots would tickle. At least the show did manage to offer us a look at how this moment changed the bond between Roger and Jamie forever. We got that look of how respect between the two men changed, and that was another important element to the story.
