Jamie gets bitten by a snake in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 90

We start The Fiery Cross Part Eight with a dramatic moment. Roger and Jamie are out in the woods when Jamie is bitten by a snake in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 90.

We get a chance to see Roger step up as a protector in this chapter. He needs to take action to save Jamie’s life. It turns out the snake is a venomous one, and Claire isn’t nearby to help with the situation.

Jamie gets a sense that he’s going to die, and so, there’s a conversation about changing history. I do love the conversation as it’s important for this particular situation and things to come. That fire is on the minds of everyone, but is it possible that Jamie will die because of the snake bite instead? Is it possible to change history or is it all just fate?

Not everything in this chapter was used in the series. Sadly, the discussion about changing history was skipped over. That’s because there was a different part that was more important for the overall story. We needed to see Jamie confide in Roger about Stephen Bonnet.

There is some foreshadowing and plot development in this chapter. I’ll get to that in the foreshadowing section as it is important for the overall story.

Let’s dive into The Fiery Cross Chapter 90.
