Roger wakes up wanting Brianna sexually in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 89

We have another chapter involving normal life on the Ridge. Outlander Book 5, Chapter 89 is short, taking place in the cabin on Fraser’s Ridge.

It’s all from Roger’s perspective, as he thinks about how much he wants Brianna in a physical way. There are a few things that get in the way of that: namely Jemmy. It seems like Jemmy constantly gets in the way of his parents getting the deed done.

It shouldn’t be surprising that this chapter wasn’t used in the series. It’s not because of the topic. After all, we’ve seen plenty of scenes involving intimacy and sex between Claire and Jamie. We don’t really see them between Brianna and Roger, though. There are a few but not as many as Claire and Jamie’s scenes.

I do think the reason this was skipped was because there was simply no reason to include it. We can just imagine what the two get up to when they’re behind closed doors. I’ll get to my thoughts on this in the adaptation section.

Does it foreshadow anything? If you read between the lines, I do think there’s a bit of foreshadowing in this chapter. I’ll get to that shortly.

Let’s dive into The Fiery Cross Chapter 89.
