Roger and Jamie head to Cross Creek, where Roger gets the chance to buy a sword. He needs to test drive it first, which he’s not all too sure what test driving it means. He sees some bags of what he assumes is wool and considers stabbing them.

However, a doctor steps up and offers to help him test drive the sword. They are to fight until one draws blood, and Jamie just watches Roger amused by the situation.

Roger takes up the doctor’s offer. He gets a chance to show off the skills that he’s learned from Jamie, but he does note that the doctor is likely a little worse for wear with the drink. If the doctor was sober, the fight would probably be a little harder to win.

In the end, Roger is the one that wins the little fun duel. There are no hard feelings that he’s won, and Jamie just states that the sword will do. He also tells Roger that Roger will do, which is likely the best praise Roger is going to get from the man.

Praise is praise, though. Roger has made Jamie proud.
