There’s a new Christmas romance novel out that could help get you through a bit of Droughtlander. Check out The Holiday Swap by Maggie Knox.

You’re likely reading through the Outlander books right now preparing for the ninth book. Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone is coming on Nov. 23, and we couldn’t be any more excited than we already are.

For those who are done with the read-through and are looking for something else to read, or for those who don’t read the books and are just waiting for Outlander Season 6, there are some other great books out there. One of them has just been released today, Tuesday, Oct. 5.

The Holiday Swap by Maggie Knox is certainly something to check out during Droughtlander, especially if you love cute Christmas romance novels. Think of it like a Hallmark movie in a book.

What is The Holiday Swap by Maggie Knox about?

The book follows identical twin sisters, and I’m sure you can see exactly where it’s going. After Charlie Goodwin suffers a concussion that leaves her unable to smell or taste, her job is in danger. She’s the co-host of a baking show and she’s vying for the chance to host her own series alone. She needs to be able to taste and smell!

So, she turns to her sister Cass. They switch places, giving Cass the chance to gain confidence and find love in LA and giving Charlie the chance to experience life back in her small town running the family bakery that she’s known since she was little.

Of course, there is romance for both of them. Both sisters connect with someone while pretending to be each other, and you’re left wondering how these men will react when they learn the full truth. Will the story end with them pretending to be each other forever?

Why read The Holiday Swap during Droughtlander

This certainly isn’t anything like Outlander. It doesn’t have the sweeping love story that goes on throughout a series of books. It’s a short read. It took me just a few hours to read compared to the days it can take me to get through the Outlander books.

There’s nothing wrong with short reads, though. Sometimes you just want the story without a lot of things going on around the drama.

When it comes to Droughtlander, you often just want to fill the time and explore different authors. You want to get out of your comfort zone and try out different genres of books. The Holiday Swap by Maggie Knox is going to give you that chance since it is a pure romance rather than fitting all the genres that Outlander does.

It’s also fun and light. There are no absolutely heartbreaking moments that Outlander offers. You’re sure to be left with a smile on your face at the end of the book.
