Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter

With Lizzie, we get the foreshadowing that she’s not really interested in the marriage that is being proposed. It’s not that she doesn’t know her own mind. It’s that she does.

We know Lizzie is sweet on a certain set of twins. There have already been signs of this. While this chapter doesn’t immediately hint at it, it’s all in how she’s refusing to make a choice when it comes to marriage.

Adapting The Fiery Cross chapter

The chapter wasn’t really used for the series. When it came to Lizzie’s story, her father never made it over from Scotland. It’s not clear if he’ll ever make it, but there’s been no mention of it. What we have seen is Lizzie’s sweetness on the Beardsley twins, and there’s no other talk of marriage.

Other than that, there’s been no reason to include this chapter in the series. There just isn’t the time to spend on moments that aren’t overly important for the plot.

I didn’t mind skipping over this. After all, the rules about time travel are different in the show compared to the series. A TV show needs to remain focused and allow the drama to build. These quieter moments would interrupt that.
