Outlander Book Club: The Fiery Cross Chapter 76 breakdown
With everyone back at Fraser’s Ridge, it’s time for life to get on as normal in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 76
Claire and Jamie are in Jamie’s study in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 76. It’s time for life to get back to some sort of normalcy for the family.
It’s a relatively quiet chapter at first. Life is just happening as normal. This includes Mr. Wemyss coming to Jamie to talk Lizzie’s betrothal. There’s someone who is a potential match for Lizzie, and that means getting Jamie ready for the dowry that he’s promised.
Of course, this leads to the topic of money coming up. Jamie needs to balance some of the accounts, and they need to figure out what to sell. There’s also the problem of how people are paid in the Colonies during this time, something that has come up before. It leads to conversations about items to sell to help fund Fraser’s Ridge.
The chapter offers a little bit of foreshadowing, but not too much. The main part that I see is regarding Lizzie, and I’ll get to that in the adaptation section.
It wasn’t really a chapter used for the series. Lizzie’s father hasn’t turned up in the Colonies, and there isn’t the time for these quieter moments from the book. I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the adaptation section.
Let’s dive into The Fiery Cross Chapter 76.
