Things are never easy for couples on Outlander, but Fergus and Marsali have had things the easiest. That’s not the case in Outlander Season 6.

We’ve seen many of the couples on Outlander go through difficult times. Claire and Jamie have certainly been through the most, but Brianna and Roger had their fair share of troublesome moments over the last two seasons.

Marsali and Fergus have been able to focus on being young and in love. They have their kids, with Marsali potentially dying in childbirth being the biggest concern, although never really shown on screen. At one point, Marsali worried that having children would mean not enjoying certain bedroom activities as much, but again, not much changed there.

That’s all about to change on Outlander Season 6. It’s time for Marsali and Fergus to go through some darker times. Lauren Lyle teased that while promoting Vigil, according to Digital Spy.

Darker times for Fergus and Marsali on Outlander Season 6

At the end of Outlander Season 5, Marsali took a life. She killed Lionel Brown for what he did to Claire, deciding that a man like him couldn’t be allowed to live. That has a huge knock-on effect, with her asking Jamie if she’s going to Hell for what she did.

We’re sure that’s going to haunt her during the next season, and that’s not going to be the only problem. Marsali gives birth to her fourth child, and if the show sticks to the books, that means Henri-Christian will arrive. And he’s a dwarf.

Marsali and Fergus blame themselves in the book, although Claire has the modern-day knowledge to explain they didn’t do anything. It doesn’t change how they think and feel, though, and Marsali is sure to believe that her actions led to this. Maybe Fergus will even blame her for it.

Lyle teases that Marsali will have to step up to support the family during Outlander Season 6. She needs to look out for herself and for her children. But what does this mean for Fergus? Does this mean that darker storyline for Fergus is on its way? If you’ve read the books, you know exactly which storyline I mean.

One thing it should mean is that Fergus and Marsali get more screen time. Marsali got some excellent development in Season 5. It’s time for Fergus to get more in Outlander Season 6.
