Just the Outlander chapter

Jamie is in the middle of the battle. He thinks about what could happen to Roger, knowing that in the middle of battle, people don’t look out for everyone. They’re not likely to look out for the badge that denotes they’re with the militia when they see people running toward them with muskets. That makes Jamie worried.

If something happens to Roger, Jamie knows that Claire and Bree will blame him. He’ll blame himself. After all, it was Jamie who sent Roger to Herman Husband in the first place.

His thoughts move on when there’s a man who appears in front of him from some bushes in the middle of the battle. He’s one of the Regulators, and someone he recognizes. There’s a fight, but Jamie gets the upper hand.

When there’s another man, Jamie is caught unawares. Someone else shoots the other man, and Jamie realizes how close he came to death.

It all eventually leads to Jamie taking a Regulator prisoner. It’s better a prisoner than dead. However, Jamie is in the middle of battle-lust that he initially speaks to the Regulator in Gaelic and he has a knife to the man’s throat with the initial intention to kill. The Regulator doesn’t understand that Jamie has decided to take this man prisoner, and Jamie has to find the English words.

The Regulator agrees to become a prisoner.
