SAS: Rise of the Black Swan comes to Netflix at the end of the week. Is it going to be worth watching as an Outlander fan?

We like to support the Outlander cast in other projects. There’s no doubt about that. And Sam Heughan is one of the actors with a lot of other projects going on.

One that was released this year was SAS: Red Notice. This is the same movie as SAS: Rise of the Black Swan that’s coming to Netflix at the end of this week. It’s understandable if you’re confused. Title changes happen for a variety of reasons, and it looks like it’s to do with the SVOD release.

Before you start streaming the movie on Netflix, you’ll want to know if it’s worth the watch. This will depend on what you prefer to watch and why you’re interested in it.

Is SAS: Rise of the Black Swan good?

I always think “good” is relative. Some people are going to enjoy a movie and others aren’t. It really is that simple. So it’s hard to say if the movie is good or not.

What we can do is look at Rotten Tomatoes to get an idea of what critics and audiences think. The movie has a 53% critical score, with many critics complaining about the poor writing. It’s just not as good as the source material, the novel by Andy McNab. There are also a lot of Army cliches, and many critics don’t have great things to say about the directing.

When it comes to the audience, the score is higher. That’s not surprising as audiences have different expectations compared to critics. The score is 80%, which suggests that it is a good movie if you want something entertaining or if you just want to support your favorite Outlander actor.

If you’re watching it purely to support Sam Heughan, tune in when it drops on Netflix. If you watch with a critical eye or because you love the original novel, you may not find it as enjoyable. Just go along for the ride.
