Just the Outlander chapter

Jamie returns to camp after a day with the Council of War. He’s spent time finding the Regulators’ lines, although he comments that “lines” is being generous. It’s clear that these men and women aren’t quite ready for battle. They’re no soldiers.

Jamie notes that it reminds him of when he was in France as a young lad. There’s this hint that things are going to go similarly, and Jamie doesn’t want that to happen. He needs to find a way to get the Regulators to stand down, and that means turning to Herman Husband.

Husband is there. Jamie hasn’t been able to talk to him just yet, but he’ll need to find a way. If anyone can get the Regulators to stand down, it’s going to be Husband.

The talk then moves onto something Jamie was able to learn. Bonnet hasn’t been seen for the past month, which means Jocasta and Duncan are safe for now. It’s clear that Jamie is sure that Bonnet will return for the gold again.

However, he’s also learned that Bonnet smuggles through Wylie’s Landing. It’s where Philip Wylie’s plantation is, which means Wylie does know the pirate. Wylie may have seemed convincing about not knowing Bonnet at first, but it’s clear that can’t be the case. So, it’s time to keep an eye on Wylie too.

During the evening, Claire starts to think about Frank as she looks at the sky. She comments about the sky to Jamie and chastizes herself for thinking about Frank. Jamie notes that he thinks of Scotland during the dawn and dusk, especially when sleeping rough. He thinks of the people and things from the past, and Claire notes that she’s just be doing the same.

It’s not that she longs for the things of the past. She just remembers them.
