Just the Outlander chapter

The chapter involves a series of journal entries. They detail the date and things that happened in the lead-up to the Battle of Alamance.

There are a few elements that stand out in the entries, with one of them being the amount of artillery that is included. The British Army was getting ready for a war, viewing the Regulators as quite a threat. Of course, we know now that the Regulators were mostly farmers. While they had some experience, they weren’t ready in the way that the British Army was.

Another element that stands out is the way there were letters passed between Tryon and the Regulators. There was an aim to prevent the battle, but the last we read is that the Council of War puts together another letter to send back. If the Regulators stand down, great. If they don’t, the Army will attack.

It’s at the very end that we get a different type of entry. This time, it’s clearly from Brianna and in her dream journal. She has a dream that she can’t quite remember, but she has a sense of fear from it. She also mentions cannon smoke. Is she dreaming or having some sort of vision of the future?
