Everyone comes up with a theory as to who murdered Betty in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 55

We get to the last chapter of Part Five of The Fiery Cross. The book doesn’t leave us hanging when it comes to Betty’s murder in Outlander Book 5.

This is the chapter that the theories are shared. It’s not something that we can ever have proven, not in full. Is Lieutenant Wolff ever really going to tell the truth? It would be crazy for him to do something like that. So, that means leaving us to the theories of what probably happened.

It’s good enough to wrap up this part of the story. We can move forward, and there’s plenty to come there.

We also get an idea of who the second man who attacked Jocasta and Duncan was. It definitely wasn’t Philip Wylie, so was this also connected to Betty’s murder? Sort of!

The chapter doesn’t foreshadow too much. The ending to the chapter pushes the story forward into Part Six of The Fiery Cross. This is plot development rather than foreshadowing, though.

As for the use in the show, there was no need for the chapter. It’s only the ending that’s needed, and that was done slightly differently to work in a suitable way for TV shows.

Let’s dive into The Fiery Cross Chapter 55.
