If there’s one story from the Outlander books that many fans would love to see, it’s all about the French gold. Will it be used in Outlander Season 6?
The French gold has a big part in the Outlander books. We get a sense of that in Voyager, but it’s not until The Fiery Cross that we find out there’s something bigger involved in this story. It all comes to a head in A Breath of Snow and Ashes.
So far, the French gold storyline hasn’t really been used. There was a comment about it in Season 3, mainly because it was needed for Jamie’s storyline and that with Geillis. There wasn’t a mention of it in the fifth season.
It brings up the question about whether it will even be used in the sixth season. Is there a chance we’ll see the French gold in Outlander Season 6?
Is the French gold story needed for Outlander Season 6?
Depending on who you speak to, the French gold is extremely important. In The Fiery Cross, it gives us a big story from Jocasta’s past. Some of that storyline was used in Season 5, but not in a way that makes it necessary for the future. However, in A Breath of Snow and Ashes, it’s not about Jocasta’s story.
Instead, it’s all about the Bugs. They have a huge role in the gold, both of them believing they deserve that gold for everything they’ve been through.
However, the Bugs haven’t had the development in the show that they had in the books. There is a small chance that they could have a bigger role in the sixth season, but arguably, there isn’t a big need to include this story. The things that the story leads to can either just be skipped over completely or included in a slightly different way.
When it comes to TV shows, some elements of the books need to be avoided. There just isn’t enough time to deal with it all, and there’s the problem of guest stars possibly not being able to return to future seasons due to scheduling problems. There are a lot of logistics with storylines that writers have to work with.
