It turns out that Wylie doesn’t know Bonnet. Nor was he the one involved in the attack on Jocasta. It turns out that he was going to see his horse one last time and saw the light in the shed. He wanted to see what was going on in there, and that’s when he came across Claire with Betty. Wylie is more than willing to turn Claire over the authorities for what he saw.

One thing he is clear on is that he didn’t know Bonnet. He felt that someone was following him but couldn’t see anyone in the dark. It was only when he got into the shed he realized there was someone there, but he didn’t pay any attention to who it was. He was too occupied with what he’d seen in the shed.

There is a moment to touch on what Claire had found. Betty was definitely murdered, and now she knows how. Someone had given her ground glass, which was sure to kill her. She doesn’t know when it was given, but the focus really is on who gave her it. Who wanted her dead and why?
