Claire performs an autopsy but is caught in the act on Outlander Book 5, Chapter 52

Claire needs to know if Betty’s death was murder in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 52. That means she has to perform an autopsy, but she’s caught during it.

The chapter brings up a lot of fun moments between Claire and Jamie. While he understands Claire comes from another time, there are times that he can’t shake his own upbringing and beliefs. This is one of those times, viewing an autopsy as the desecration of a corpse. It doesn’t make him feel easy at all.

However, the chapter isn’t fully focused on the autopsy. There’s an interruption partway through, and this interruption certainly brings up a lot of fear and some questions. Why do the people who interrupt her walk into the shed in the first place?

There is some foreshadowing of sorts in this chapter. Really, it’s plot development, but it doesn’t seem like that at first.

However, the chapter wasn’t used in the series. We did get an autopsy, but not under the same circumstances in Outlander Season 5.

Let’s dive into The Fiery Cross Chapter 52.
