Claire consoles another doctor after the loss of a patient in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 50

Claire went to see Betty in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 50. However, there was nothin for her to do.

Instead of seeing Claire as a doctor, we got a chance to see her as a compassionate human. This is something that we get to see now and then in the books, although it’s usually toward Jamie, Brianna, or Roger.

During this chapter, we get to see Claire compassionate to someone she barely knows. In fact, it’s someone that she’s shown a little contempt to as a doctor. It’s all about Dr. Fentiman.

Fentiman uses a lot of the medicines of the time. That includes leeches and bleeding patients. However, Claire realizes that he is struggling with the loss of his patient, and she views him as a good doctor for that reason.

The chapter wasn’t used in the series. We didn’t get the Betty murder as part of the show’s storyline, and that was mostly due to time. In a way, this is a bad thing because we don’t get to see this side of Claire. However, I’m not disappointed that the whole storyline was skipped, which is something I’ve mentioned in previous breakdowns.

Let’s dive into The Fiery Cross Chapter 50.
