Just the Outlander chapter

The chapter starts with Claire in her room with the other women. She can’t get back to sleep after being woken up, trying to figure out who the visitor could be. She’s angry that she’s been violated in a way, but can she be angry if it was Jamie?

Claire notes why she can’t ask Jamie about it. If it wasn’t him, he would spend plenty of time looking for whoever it was that did touch her. She doesn’t want that to happen, so she decides to keep it all quiet.

However, she can’t sleep, so she decides to leave the room. That’s when she finds Jamie, who has been waiting for her. He knew she’d be sleeping, but he paced the floors and walked around the house just willing her to come outside. Claire wonders if Jamie had come into the room after all, and I think this is supposed to be that confirmation. This would have been a good time for Claire to mention it.

While Jamie is willing to have her anywhere, she manages to get him to the stables. They have a not-so-romantic but more hungry moment together, and then we find out all about Jamie’s winnings.

He won at cards, which meant getting the two rings back. He puts them both back on Claire’s hands. Then he explains that he won Wylie’s horse, Lucas. It’s clear that Lucas isn’t suitable for the Ridge, so Claire wonders what Jamie will do with him.

Jamie has already decided to sell Lucas. It would probably do the Frasers better to have the money anyway.

The two are interrupted. Betty needs medical attention, and it is urgent.
