Sanditon Season 2 is not coming to PBS Masterpiece in 2021

If you’re looking for something during Droughtlander, Sanditon on PBS Masterpiece may be on your watch-list. Sadly, Sanditon Season 2 won’t premiere this year.

We didn’t think Sanditon Season 2 would happen at all for a very long time. The BBC in the UK opted not to renew the series after it didn’t get the viewership hoped for. PBS Masterpiece couldn’t continue the story alone, and it took time to find another network or streamer to help.

BritBox has stepped in, and now we will get a second and third season of the series. We also know it’s going to be something for Outlander fans who love to follow the cast to other projects. Alexander Vlahos has landed a role on the series.

The bad news is we won’t get to see Sanditon Season 2 this year. It’s not something that will offer help during Droughtlander this time, but it will probably offer help next time.

Sanditon Season 2 release date predictions

We don’t expect the release date to be this year. Of course, there is always a chance that PBS Masterpiece somehow surprises us, but there just isn’t enough time to get through everything.

Filming is still ongoing in the UK. Then there will be the post-production work. While there isn’t as much post-production needed for a show like Sanditon as there is for one like For All Mankind, there is still a lot to do to make it look right.

We’re looking at summer 2022 as a potential release date right now. This would give the production plenty of time to get through all stages. It will likely be a weekly release as that’s the way both PBS Masterpiece and BritBox like to do things.

The good news is summer 2022 will give us something to watch during the next Droughtlander. And there is the first season to watch for those who didn’t give it a chance the first time!
