Outlander Book Club: The Fiery Cross Chapter 48 breakdown
Somebody starts playing with Claire’s feet in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 48
I just want to start this by saying I realized I’ve skipped a chapter! I didn’t do Outlander Book 5, Chapter 46. I’m not sure how I even skipped over reading it, but that’s what happened. I will back track and fill in the gaps this week, I promise!
I need to read the chapter first. I’ve already read Chapter 48 so it made a bit more sense to get this chapter to you and then I’ll read the chapter I’ve skipped over tonight!
Outlander Book 5, Chapter 48 brings us to the night of the wedding. Jocasta and Duncan get their private time, and Claire wonders what will actually happen in the room. Everyone else is sleeping together, and Claire is in a stuffy room with a lot of other people.
In her sleep, she’s visited by someone. She doesn’t know who that someone is, but assumes that it is Jamie. What if it’s not? What is going on?
The chapter wasn’t used on the series. To be quite honest, it’s one of those chapters that has something happen but isn’t really important to the overall story. It wasn’t needed for the series at all, and it’s not even something that really gets revisited in the books.
In fact, there’s no foreshadowing within the chapter that I can notice. It’s a shame, because it could have made for an amusing conversation later on.
Let’s dive into The Fiery Cross Chapter 48.
