Can you believe it’s almost been 25 years since Drums of Autumn was released? The anniversary cover is coming in fall 2021.

The official anniversary is on Dec. 30. Back in 1996, the fourth book in the Outlander story came out. It took us all on a journey across the colonies as Claire and Jamie found a place to settle after being shipwrecked.

It’s sometimes hard to imagine that it’s been 20-30 years since most of the books have been out. And the story is still going with Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone coming out in November 2021.

Like the previous copies of the books, Drums of Autumn is getting a 25th anniversary special cover. What do we know about it so far?

Drums of Autumn 25th anniversary special release date

There isn’t an exact release date for the copy just yet. If you subscribe to Diana Gabaldon’s emails, you’ll have heard about the fall release. It’s not clear if it’s coming out before or after Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone.

As well as a special cover, the book is getting a never-before-seen reader’s guide.

The cover is light green with a beautiful tree on the front. It’s in a similar style to the 25th anniversary covers for the previous books, and there’s sure to be something similar for The Fiery Cross and future books when their 25th anniversaries come up.

You can already pre-order the Drums of Autumn 25th anniversary copy from all major retailers. The only place not on the list on Random House Publishing’s website right now is Poisoned Pen, which is where you can usually pre-order signed copies. You’ll want to keep an eye out for this. While there isn’t a date yet, when you pre-order, you’ll get the alert as soon as the official date is set.
