Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter

There is a little bit of foreshadowing in the sense that things between Wylie and the Frasers isn’t over. Wylie is now hurt, and he will find a way to get back at the Frasers, especially Claire.

I think there’s also a little foreshadowing for Claire. It’s clear that people talk about her, and not all of it is just about how she seems to flirt with Wylie. Get ready for trouble in later books.

Then there’s Betty’s storyline. This is more plot development rather than foreshadowing. The attempt of Betty’s life is important.

Adapting The Fiery Cross chapter

The chapter was partly used in Outlander Season 5. We didn’t get the focus on Betty because that storyline didn’t happen in the series. However, we did have the moment in the stables. Wylie did attempt to make a pass on Claire, and she did reject him.

Jamie walked in on the full situation, though. He didn’t berate Claire in the way he did in the books, but he did have a few choice words for her. He was also drunk, and we ended up with the stable love-making moment.

You see, the storyline with Wylie was placed slightly later in the day at Jocasta’s wedding. It took place after Claire and Jamie had had an argument about Claire’s ring from Frank. Claire was in the stables of her own accord and Wylie found her, helping to remove the gossip part of the argument.

I didn’t mind the change. Honestly, I take the show for what it is. I didn’t find too much awkward about the scene at all, and fully enjoyed seeing Wylie get rejected. It worked for what I needed in the scene.
