Roger meets an Irish musician at Jocasta’s wedding in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 41

Roger MacKenzie is at Jocasta’s wedding, but he’s not in the mood to talk to anyone in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 41. That is until he comes across an Irish musician.

This is a relatively short chapter in the book, and at first, it doesn’t seem like it adds much to the story. Clearly, the link is for later in the story, especially when it comes to one thing that Roger witnesses in the house.

We do get a chance to see him interact with an Irish musician. It’s another chance for Roger to talk a little about music again, and he eventually gets an invite to sing with the musician to teach the musician new songs.

The chapter wasn’t used for the series though. To be honest, this isn’t all that surprising since it is a fairly light chapter when it comes to story. Roger also ended up not going to Jocasta’s wedding in the TV series, giving us a chance to see him take control at Fraser’s Ridge for a while. I’ll get to why I preferred the show’s storyline for Roger than the book’s storyline.

As for foreshadowing, there is a little. It’s just not where you’d initially expect it.

Let’s dive into The Fiery Cross Chapter 41.
