Everest won’t just star Heughan. He’s joining Ewan McGregor and Mark Strong in a movie that is based on a true story.
The name of the movie gives it away. It is all about Mt. Everest, and a journey to the top.
Filming will begin in January 2022. It’s nothing to worry about when it comes to Outlander, which will be set to film some time in the same year. Contracts and production schedules will be set up to allow for both. And the delay for Outlander Season 7 is to wait out the pandemic a little longer.
But what is the movie Everest going to be about? Is it going to be worth watching?
What is Everest about?
The movie is set to be the “ultimate adventure film” according to Variety. Set in 1921, it focuses on the first attempt to climb the infamous mountain. That first attempt led to 11 deaths, and there have been many more on the mountain since.
McGregor will play George Mallory, an English mountaineer who is selected by Strong’s Arthur Hinks to scale the mountain. It’s a race to the top against Australian climber George Finch, who will be played by Heughan. We’ve had chances to hear his American accent, now it’s time to hear his Australian accent.
The idea of the movie is to give viewers an insight into what it’s really like to scale Mt. Everest. It’s something that most people would never experience, and so many don’t come back down to tell the tale. There have been many movies about trips up the mountain, but this movie is set to change the way we view these types of stories.
