They don’t offer much in the way of spoilers in this snippet. Diana Gabaldon keeps out all the major spoilers, but there are sometimes minor ones. There may be some minor spoilers in this snippet, so if you want to know nothing about the upcoming book, it’s worth turning away from this post.

As you know, Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone has caught up with the American Revolutionary War. Things are starting, and the Frasers and MacKenzies will need to choose a side. They need to do this tactically as they know how it turns out, but they also know the risks if they join the Patriots too soon.

However, by the Daily Lines, it’s clear that the families have chosen the side that will eventually win the war.

Roger has a letter in Outlander Book 9

The Daily Lines, which were shared to mark Flag Day at the start of the week, focus on Reverend Roger MacKenzie. Show fans are still waiting for Roger to go down this path, but it’s likely to come up in Outlander Season 6.

Roger has a letter from Colonel James Fraser, but the name isn’t considered with respect. It turns out that Jamie is viewed potentially as some sort of deserter. He resigned his commission to tend to his wife—what did Claire need him for? It had to have been important.

It seems like Jamie knew the reaction Roger would get. Or at least, Jamie suspects the reaction. How can Jamie get back into the good graces of the Continental Army? That’s something we’ll have to find out during Outlander Book 9.
