Outlander Book Club: The Fiery Cross Chapter 32 breakdown
Claire and Jamie celebrate the militia being called off in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 32
Claire and Jamie spend some time at Brownsville in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 32. There’s a chance to celebrate before they have to return home.
This chapter has some beautiful moments. It’s one of my favorite for Claire and Jamie together. As they walk together while Claire is a little tipsy from the cider she’s drunk, the two talk about what to do with Miss Nameless Beardsley.
It’s clear that there are people who will look after the baby in Brownsville, but is this place the best for her. Would Claire like to raise the baby? Jamie wants to give Claire that chance for them to raise a baby together.
And it’s not just about that. We get a little more about Alicia Brown and Isaiah Morton, and the militia is called off during the chapter, allowing for a celebration.
This chapter was certainly used for the series. Calling off of the militia was necessary for the overall storyline, but I’m really glad we got the moment between Claire and Jamie in the moonlight. I’ll get to why Claire and Jamie’s moment was so important for me in the adaptation section.
Was there foreshadowing? Not really, although I guess it’s clear that the Brown storyline isn’t completely over.
Let’s dive into The Fiery Cross Chapter 32.
