We head back to Fraser’s Ridge to see what Bree is up to in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 30

After spending some time on the road, Outlander Book 5, Chapter 30 takes us back to Fraser’s Ridge for a while. We get to see Brianna in charge of the house.

There isn’t much time to see her in charge, although she does find some way of handling Mrs. Bug and Mrs. Chrisholm. She even looks at a way that she can move the Chrisholms elsewhere temporarily to deal with the situation.

However, the main focus for the chapter is on letters in her father’s study. There’s a letter from Lord John Grey that touches on a certain pirate named Stephen Bonnet. Brianna can’t help but look into the details of the letter, and she gets another side of this character.

The show didn’t include the letter to Jamie about Bonnet. Instead, we got to see Bonnet’s actions in real time, and I do prefer that—I prefer being shown something instead of told about it happening.

Of course, the show changed Bonnet’s storyline a little. Brianna had thought him dead, but ended up finding out that he was still alive. So when we went back to Fraser’s Ridge while everyone else was away it wasn’t just to see her run the house but to see her deal with the fear of Bonnet showing back up. I’ll get to why I really liked the way the show did things in the adaptation section.

What about foreshadowing? I saw a little, and it was all about Mrs. Bug.

Let’s dive into The Fiery Cross Chapter 30.
