Claire and Jamie get their last night together before riding off with the militia in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 25

We end Part Two in The Fiery Cross with a relatively quiet chapter. Claire and Jamie are alone together in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 25, getting ready for riding off with the militia.

While it’s a quiet chapter, there is certainly a weight to it. Both Claire and Jamie think about what’s to come. They know the gravity of things that will happen in the Colonies, but they don’t know all the details. And they know the loss that can come from war and even small battles.

We get a few details of what’s going to come and how the family will be separated. However, Claire is leaving with the men. They need a surgeon.

The ending of the chapter is Jamie’s letter to Lord John Grey. It’s time to catch him up on a few things, and I love that we get to see the friendship continue between the two of them.

I didn’t notice too much in the way of foreshadowing. Nor was the chapter used in the series, and I’ll get to why that probably was in the adaptation breakdown.

Let’s dive into The Fiery Cross Chapter 25.
