Claire witnesses Jamie getting ready to request loyalty from the men on the Ridge in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 22

Thanks for the patience everyone while I got caught back up with reading The Fiery CrossOutlander Book 5, Chapter 22 took a little longer than usual to get through due to a few things going on at home thanks to homeschooling still happening here in Ontario!

It is a long chapter. On Audible, it is about an hour and 20 minutes to get through. It probably doesn’t take that long to read, but I tend to mix and match depending on what I’m doing so I can listen while walking the dogs and read when I’m winding down for the night.

Anyway, let’s get into this chapter. It’s one that sees the introduction of the fiery cross. We don’t get an immediate explanation of it. That’s to come soon, but it’s clear that it has Claire and Brianna a little worried.

Claire also witnesses Jamie’s ceremony in the river while he’s preparing to call on the men of the Ridge. It’s an important chapter that reminds us of some of the differences between him being laird at Lallybroch and the owner of the land at Fraser’s Ridge.

Some of this was used in the series, but not quite in as much depth. There were some elements completely missed out in the series for the sake of time.

Let’s dive into The Fiery Cross Chapter 22.
