And just like that, Outlander Season 6 filming has come to an end. What does this mean for the release of the new season? Can we expect it in 2021?

Yes, you have just read that right. After just starting filming in January 2021, Outlander Season 6 is now complete. In honor of World Outlander Day, the social team shared the update with images for the upcoming season.

Wait, how could it only take five months to film all 12 episodes? This is where there is a little bit of mixed news. The sixth season is now only going to be eight episodes long, with a 90-minute season premiere.

Dinna fash about the missing episodes. The four episodes will be added to Outlander Season 7, which was originally going to be 12 episodes long. The decision comes from the filming delays and problems, leading to the need to reduce the episode count on Season 6 to make sure it arrives soon.

Outlander Season 6 is coming in 2022

We won’t get the season in 2021, though. According to DeadlineOutlander Season 6 will premeire on STARZ in 2022. There’s no set date just yet, but it is “early 2022.” When “early” was used for Men in Kilts Season 1, it was February, so we could expect something similar for Outlander.

But if filming is already completed, why is there such a delay? Some of this comes down to the post-production work. This takes a few months to complete this part of the work. Then STARZ will need to find the best place for the season in the schedule.

For now, we have some images for the season to tide us over. Claire and Jamie get some close moments, and it looks like Brianna and Roger are happy. Who is the baby that Roger has in his arms, though?

What do you think about the decision to reduce the episode count for Season 6? What do you hope still happens in the season? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
