Outlander Book Club: The Fiery Cross Chapter 20 breakdown
Brianna and Roger head out for some alone time and some shooting practice in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 20
Brianna and Roger get some time alone in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 20. This is a chance for them to get to know each other a little more, especially when it comes to Brianna’s shooting skills.
In fact, the point of them heading out for a while is for shooting practice. It’s time for Roger to learn how to fire a rifle, but he doesn’t want Jamie to be the one to teach him this. It’s one thing to know that Roger isn’t suited for the 18th century, but it’s another one to actually see it.
However, this chapter is more than just shooting practice. There are a lot of internalized thoughts for Brianna at the start of the chapter. The series had to include some of the moments in this chapter but had to find a way to show it on the screen. Managing internalized thoughts isn’t easy for the show.
The series did end up changing up this chapter with some other characters in parts. However, the shooting practice and the conversation about Bree learning to shoot remained.
I do think there is certainly some foreshadowing in this chapter, and it’s not all about what’s to come in the Colonies. I think we get to see foreshadowing of things to come for Brianna and Roger when it comes to illnesses.
Let’s dive into The Fiery Cross Chapter 20.
