The children are baptized but it looks like no weddings will go ahead in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 13

We get a chapter of The Fiery Cross that involves the Frasers and the MacKenzies. Outlander Book 5, Chapter 13 is important for the next part of the story, so it’s one you’ll want to pay attention to.

With the priest arrested, Jamie needs to find a way to get the man freed. However, that’s not going to be possible, and he’s not going to start a fight over this. What concerns him the most is that the priest will be harmed rather than just taken out of the province.

However, he isn’t going to let the priest go without one thing happening. Something that is extremely important to him is that his grandchildren are baptized. It’s almost like he’s resigned to the idea that the weddings won’t go ahead.

Or will they? That’s something Claire considers as she gets a lot of pieces of various puzzles together.

It’s clear there’s a slightly bigger mystery within this chapter. Who doesn’t want weddings to happen, and why? That’s a question for another chapter.

Of course, this chapter wasn’t used for the TV series. After all, the Gathering didn’t take place and there was no need for the priest to be arrested. Instead, the show opted to put the focus of the Season 5 premiere on just Brianna and Roger’s wedding with no hiccups along the way. For the sake of the show, I loved this decision and I’ll get to that in the adaptation section.

Let’s dive into The Fiery Cross Chapter 13.
