There have been reports of Graham McTavish joining the Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon. The Outlander actor now confirms his casting.

When a photo from the House of the Dragon set leaked, we couldn’t help but get excited about how much this person looked like Graham McTavish. Even though actors aren’t on Outlander any more, we love to check out what they’re doing next. That’s certainly the case for McTavish, who seems to pop up in everything! He’s a very busy man.

HBO didn’t confirm the casting, but McTavish has gone on the record to confirm that he definitely is in the Game of Thrones prequel. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he is part of the series and is having fun, but he can’t share anything else about it.

We don’t even get to know his character. Of course, there are theories as to who he could play floating around.

What is House of the Dragon about?

The Game of Thrones prequel is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones when the Targaryen family was on the Iron Throne. There are some big names as part of the series including Ready Player One‘s Olivia Cooke and Doctor Who‘s Matt Smith.

McTavish teases that there are a lot of dragons. We know that dragons were around before Daenerys Targaryen brought three into the world when they were extinct. It sounds like there are going to be plenty of them considering the time period set. In fact, there are at least 15 dragons connected to the fiery family.

The series itself focuses on the beginning of the end of the Targaryen family. Westeros is shocked at King Viserys breaking tradition when it comes to naming an heir. His daughter is set to be heir to the throne at first since he has no son, but when he does have a son, he continues to make his daughter the heir to the Iron Throne. It’s just not done in Westeros.

House of the Dragon will come to HBO Max at a yet-to-be-determined date.
