Outlander Book Club: The Fiery Cross Chapter 11 breakdown
Roger goes to see Jocasta and ends up offended during Outlander Book 5, Chapter 11
Earlier in The Fiery Cross, Roger thought about how he looks a little like a gold digger to some people. He is the talk of the colony, and it’s all about to come up in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 11.
Roger pays a visit to Jocasta as he returns to the Fraser camp. The Findlay family is on his mind, and he wants to see if Jocasta will do something for them. Of course, Jocasta will. While she has money, she doesn’t hoard it all to herself.
However, the conversation moves on. Jocasta is concerned about her money and Brianna’s inheritance. And so, she brings up the topic of Roger’s lack of money. There is a reason for Jocasta doing all this, and she gets just the reaction that she wanted.
Of course, this was used in the TV show. It wasn’t quite in the same way, but Jocasta did goad Roger into a reaction. It was just what she wanted, and I’ll go into the explanation of that during the adaptation section.
What about foreshadowing? There isn’t that much in the way of foreshadowing that I see. After all, it’s hard for anyone to comprehend what is to happen with River Run.
Let’s dive into The Fiery Cross Chapter 11.
