Outlander Book Club: The Fiery Cross Chapter 10 breakdown
Claire heads back to the camp after a morning of treating patients in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 10
We jump back to Claire in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 10. As she finishes up with her patients, she heads back to the camp. And, of course, the topic of Stephen Bonnet comes up.
There is no avoiding the topic of Bonnet. Bree and Roger have had their own run-ins with the man, and Jamie does partly blame himself for that. After all, he was the one to let Bonnet go the first time. Now he feels a duty to get Bonnet back in chains, even though he had nothing to do with the escape the second time.
We also get another discussion about contraception, although not between Claire and someone who has come to her for help. Instead, Claire receives a gift from a former patient and it turns out to be the seeds Claire had thought about in an earlier chapter.
I think the foreshadowing here is all about Bonnet and what’s to come. I’ll certainly get to that in the foreshadowing section.
The chapter was partly used in the series. Brianna overheard Jamie and John speaking about Bonnet and it wasn’t until later that Claire and Jamie could talk. I liked the way the series handled things, and I’ll get to why in the adaptation breakdown.
Let’s dive into The Fiery Cross Chapter 10.
