Archie Hayes needs medical help in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 7

Claire continues to offer medical help for those who need it in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 7. That’s not all too surprising. After all, this is her calling, and she’s making a name for herself as a healing.

In fact, we’re reminded of that during this chapter when Archie Hayes comes for medical help. His problem isn’t all that immediate, but he does show his trust in Claire’s skills as a healer. It also brings us a reminder of 25 years earlier, and the horrors of Culloden.

Archie’s injuries came from Culloden. He also gets a chance to remind Jamie of something that happened during the battle, a memory that Jamie has repressed.

This chapter doesn’t initially seem to have much foreshadowing. However, the ending offers it. In a way, this is more about plot development and a few story threads from previous chapters coming together.

While Archie wasn’t part of the TV series, there was a part of the chapter that was used in the series. However, it wasn’t used in Outlander Season 5. We got it in the Season 4 finale, with a slight change to work for the fact that Murtagh survived Culloden during the third season. For me, it all worked and it felt like it was written for TV, which is important for me when it comes to adaptations. I’ll explain that more in the adaptation section.

Let’s dive into The Fiery Cross Chapter 7.
