Many Outlander fans are tuning into The Nevers to see Laura Donnelly in a leading role. Will HBO renew the fantasy period drama for a second season?

Laura Donnelly stars as Amalia True in The Nevers, a woman who protects those like there. Those women (and there are some men) are known as The Touched. They have various abilities, which are, of course, feared by those who don’t understand.

However, there’s clearly something going on with Amalia. She has more than one ability and has mentioned about her face not being her own. What are the secrets that we’re still to learn?

While the show was originally created by Joss Whedon (and you can certainly tell), Philippa Goslett is now the new showrunner, which could bring a change to feel of the series.

Is The Nevers Season 2 going to happen?

Of course, eyes are on whether there will be more to the story on HBO. So far, HBO hasn’t canceled or renewed The Nevers.

It is worth noting that the first season will have 12 episodes, but we’ll see the season split in two. The first season premiered on April 11, 2021, and we’ll get the first six episodes. The other six episodes will be released at a yet-to-be-determined date.

This is possibly linked to the change of showrunner. Changes would have likely happened, leading to more time needed to film the second half.

It’s likely going to feel like a second season, though. It will also likely mean there is a delay in deciding whether to renew the show. HBO may want to see what the reception to the second half is going to be like.
