Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter

I think the foreshadowing in this chapter is that Brianna and Roger would end up choosing each other. It would also be both of them making a choice to be together. The best thing about Drums of Autumn is that we find out the answer before we finish. We just don’t get the wedding until the next book.

That’s about it in the way of foreshadowing. This chapter is mostly about finishing up the plot for the novel.

Adapting the Drums of Autumn chapter

This chapter didn’t play out in the TV show the way it did in the book. Rather than Claire being the one to see Roger first, Brianna saw him through the window. From a TV point of view, I get it.

That reunion at the very end of the Outlander Season 4 finale was a very standard way to end a season of a TV show. There’s that climax before giving us the cliffhanger to get into the next season.

The blood oath was the only part kept, and I was glad of that. However, it wasn’t until the Outlander Season 5 premiere that it happened. It was fun to see him do it after Jocasta riled him up, but I’ll admit that I do love Roger doing the claiming in front of Claire and Jamie, too. It had more weight to it.

Either way, I’m just glad Roger did this formal declaration of claiming his son.
