Roger makes it back to Fraser’s Ridge in Outlander Book 4, Chapter 66

At the end of Outlander Book 4, Chapter 65, we found out Roger had made it to the clearing where he’d first met Jamie Fraser. It’s time for him to see what’s in store for him when he finally returns.

That happens in Outlander Book 4, Chapter 66. He comes across probably the safest member of the family first, and then he finally gets to see Brianna and his son. Yes, his son. Roger is ready to make that part clear to all.

This is one of my favorite chapters of Drums of Autumn. We get the blood oath with Roger making his position clear. It was the only part of the chapter that was eventually used in the series. It was kept for the Outlander Season 5 premiere, and I’ll get to why I thought that was the case and what I thought about the change in the adaptation section.

We don’t get much foreshadowing at this point in the story. After all, it’s about wrapping up the tale for this particular novel and get a few things set up for the next book. However, there are a few things in the storytelling.

This is a reminder that we’re getting toward the end of the story. We’ll be wrapping up Book 4 next week.

Let’s dive into Drums of Autumn Chapter 66.
