Young Ian is adopted into the tribe in Outlander Book 4, Chapter 61

It’s time for the moment that Outlander Book 4 has been leading us up to. Young Ian officially becomes a member of the Mohawk tribe.

It doesn’t seem like this chapter is going to lead to Ian’s adoption at first. When Claire gets to the hut to see Jamie, she’s initially thrown off a bit by Roger being there. She also attends to wounds and discusses Brianna.

Later is when Claire manages to share what she was doing all night. And it’s only as that happens that we find out what Young Ian has done.

I’ll admit that this chapter is one that I didn’t really like. Too much happened without us witnessing it. I would have loved to get to know Young Ian more and seen him make this decision. I would have loved to see the discussion he had with the Sachem.

The chapter was partly used for the TV series. Ian’s adoption into the Mohawk tribe had to be used, and I’ll admit that I preferred the way the show gave us the story. I’ll get into the reasons why in the adaptation section, but I think based on what I’ve already said, you’ll be able to figure out the reasons.

Let’s dive into Drums of Autumn Chapter 61.
