Roger comes face to face with Jamie Fraser again in Outlander Book 4, Chapter 60

We return to Roger in the hut in Outlander Book 4, Chapter 60. We’re getting closer to the point of him being rescued, but there are still some sacrifices to be made.

This chapter starts with Alexandre being led to his execution. We know that’s happening based on the description of him being painted black. A previous chapter with Claire learning about Otter-Tooth tells us that, and I’ll admit that I forgot that was setting things up so the reader knew what was happening to Alexandre.

However, the execution turns into a fight. Eventually, Jamie ends up in the hut with Roger, and it’s time for father-in-law and son-in-law to talk. What we don’t know is what’s happened to Claire and Ian on the outside of the hut.

The chapter fills in some of the blanks for Roger of what happened to Alexandre. I’ll admit that I preferred the way the TV show handled this because I like being shown the events and not being told them. I also find Outlander Season 4, Episode 12 one of my all-time favorite episodes of the series.

I don’t see too much in the way of foreshadowing in this chapter. It’s more about catching Roger up on events outside and giving Jamie and Roger some time to sort of clear the air. We also see Jamie admit that he was wrong in his actions.

Let’s dive into Drums of Autumn Chapter 60.
