Outlander Book Club: Drums of Autumn Chapter 57 breakdown
Claire learns about the opal and about Otter-Tooth in Outlander Book 4, Chapter 57
Remember back when Claire met the ghost of the Native American man earlier in Drums of Autumn? We finally get some answers to the turn of events in Outlander Book 4, Chapter 57.
This is the chapter that sees Claire, Jamie, and Young Ian attempt to make some sort of trade for Roger. He’s here; he has to be for the talks of trade to happen. However, not everyone wants to make a trade for the whisky considering everything whisky has done to the tribes in the past.
That doesn’t stop them from discussing things. While the men do the deal, Claire has a chance to learn all about Otter-Tooth.
It’s a chapter that was partly used in the series. We didn’t get the ceilidh, but we did get the story of Otter-Tooth. Of course, this was the necessary part of the story. We had to understand who that ghost was earlier in the story, and it does have a part to play in storylines in The Fiery Cross and A Breath of Snow and Ashes. That meant a knock-on effect in storylines in future Outlander seasons.
Is there any foreshadowing, though? There may be a little but there’s not too much. This is about finally connecting to those earlier events.
Let’s dive into Drums of Autumn Chapter 57.
